Sustainable Deer Management | Ethical Harvesting | Education & Conservation
Based in Wiltshire, The Whole Stag Co. is dedicated to promoting the balance between wildlife, people, and the land. More than just a deer management and venison processing company, we provide a full suite of services ranging from population surveys and impact assessments to professional pest control, estate management support, and educational outreach.
Our mission is to foster a sustainable and harmonious deer population across Wiltshire—enhancing public safety by reducing deer-vehicle collisions, supporting biodiversity, and improving public understanding of ethical deer management. We champion local food production, reducing unnecessary carbon expenditure by supplying sustainably harvested venison to local food businesses and communities.
Through our work, we aim not only to deliver practical management solutions but also to train and inspire the next generation of deer managers, ensuring that ethical, evidence-based wildlife stewardship continues to shape the rural landscape for years to come.
The Whole Stag Co. — Ethical management, local provenance, lasting impact.

Six deer species live wild in Britain. Red and Roe are native; Fallow, Sika, Muntjac, and Chinese Water deer are introduced. Without natural predators, deer populations can grow beyond ecological limits, damaging woodlands, farmland, and biodiversity.
Humane
Our deer are taken from the wild carefully, under strict conditions. They live free, natural lives and are culled only when necessary, by skilled stalkers using humane methods that minimise stress and suffering.
Ethical
We manage deer populations not for sport, but to assist landowners, support native species, reduce habitat damage, and to help preserve our landscape for future generations. Wild venison is a byproduct of this responsible management; ethical, traceable and free from artificial inputs.
Sustainable
Responsible deer management supports thriving ecosystems. By replicating natural predation, we prevent over-browsing, enable woodland regeneration, and protect rare flora and fauna.

Benefits include:

Habitat protection: Preventing damage to woodlands and conservation sites caused by overgrazing.

Support for biodiversity: Encouraging a healthy balance of species in line with national conservation goals.

Protection of crops and forestry: Minimising economic losses in agriculture and woodland management.

Improved public safety: Reducing deer-related road traffic collisions, which can result in serious injury.

Species control: Managing the impact of non-native deer to protect the range of native species.
By choosing Venison from The Whole Stag Co., you support humane, ethical, and sustainable countryside management and enjoy one of Britain’s finest natural meats, straight from the wild.
